Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Our Big Brothers

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority were both founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. in 1914 and 1920 respectively. Zeta became the first national sorority to be organized as a sister organization to a fraternity, and today the two remain the ONLY constitutionally bound sister-brother organizations.

Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated, was founded at Howard University in Washington, D.C., on January 9, 1914, by three young African-American male students. The founders, Honorable A. Langston Taylor, Honorable Leonard F. Morse, and Honorable Charles I. Brown, wanted to organize a Greek letter fraternity that would truly exemplify the ideals of brotherhood, scholarship, and service.
